1000 Years After the Final War...
After narrowly avoiding total extinction, the human race is finally beginning to thrive again; building cities and slowly reconnecting across the globe... But an evil doomsday cult is planning to end the human race once and for all.
- 2 distinct characters to play as (a Ronin and a Gunslinger)
- 9 levels with branching paths
- In-engine cutscenes drive the story forward between levels
- Plenty of secrets to find
- Smooth combat and platforming
- Good challenge for veterans and newbies alike
You play as the wandering Ronin—Kaze—or the deadly gunslinger—Forge—who come into possession of a mysterious necklace. It's previous owner's dying wish is not to let the cult get it, no matter what. What they don't realize is that the necklace is actually one of a pair of nuclear arming keys. The other key is held by The Cardinal, a dangerous extremist who wants to use ancient doomsday weapons to bring about human extinction.
Kaze and Forge must face the cult head on to put a stop their nuclear attack on New Chicago. If they fail, tens of thousands of people will die in an instant.

I've been making my way through the game over the last week. There are lots of sections where the only way you can avoid damage is to memorize the level ahead of time. I find the unavoidable damage extra frustrating because the game FEELS great to play. That unavoidable damage really pulls me out of the moment and makes me want to stop playing.
Hey! Thanks for the feedback.
Sorry you're running into this issue. We worked really hard to get the game feel right and I'm happy to hear you're enjoying that aspect of the game. We're working to reduce / eliminate the blind hit issues in our current and future projects (not always easy given the Gameboy's limited resolution).
Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the rest of the game.
Very nice Action Adventure. However, the checkpoints are a bit too far apart for our liking, at least at the beginning. Our German-language review can be found at 04:08:26. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂
Thanks for the review and your feedback! I was hoping to up the challenge with this game and some people have told me it might be a bit too hard. I've also seen players breeze through the game on Veteran difficulty, so it's hard to gauge where the difficulty should land haha.
This is gorgeous and well executed. Really looking forward to getting further into it.
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it so far.
Protip: it's worth it to get good with Kaze's roll and Forge’s ability to shoot while sliding down walls. I've seen some playthroughs of people using both in awesome ways.
Hi! I'm organizing the 'Thank You Itch' bundle in which submissions end tomorrow. 100% of proceeds go to itch.io to support the platform. Your game Sword of the Apocalypse looks great and fits our criteria. Would you be interested in joining? Thank You Itch! - itch.io
Did some runs of this. Visuals and music was great. GB studio physics were a bit rough in some parts, lag and slowdowns. I didn't like how getting hit stops momentum completely especially in the air you just fall down (lots of times in instakill spikes or pits). This was deathless at least.
Thanks! That was a really impressive run.
Very cool game. Played it on my RG353V.
Awesome! I tend to play on my Miyoo Mini Plus. It just clicks better when playing portable.
Smooth game play and great retro action!
Feels like an old schoo NES platformer.
Very well done!
Thanks!
Do you have the art as an A4 sized pic? We might need a backdrop to illustrate our article for BrewOtaku #012 :)
Sure, what resolution and file type do you need?
